We had our first-ever N Gauge Open Day on the bank holiday Monday, 30 May, at our club room, Wrecclesham Community Centre, Greenfield Road, Farnham, Surrey GU9 8TJ
The open day ran from 10 am until 4.00. All 3 of our club layouts were on view: Basingstoke, Wickwar, and Bolden, plus a PC-controlled test track (with some rather nice scenery) owned by member Dave Arkley. This was the last public showing of Basingstoke by the Farnham Club as it moves to a new permanent home on the Isle of Man in June. The day was enhanced by the presence of the Berkshire Area Group of the NGSociety and Doug Bartley, a local trader who offered a wide-ranging stock of used 2mm models. Club member David Calvert attracted much interest in his demo of standardised, clip together, baseboard modules. The bacon rolls sold well throughout the day!
We intend to repeat this fun day in future years.
