009 Group

The Club held an inaugural meeting of its new 009 Group in September 2017.  The Group now has 10 members and is slowly growing as unaffiliated narrow-gauge modellers from the surrounding area decide to share enjoyment of this branch of the hobby with like-minded individuals in a club setting.

Most Group members have their own 009 or 016/0n30 layouts which they keep at home, (see “St Mary’s” and “Whimsy” in the “Members’ Layouts section of this website).  However, the Group is building a modular 009 layout which will be partly owned by members (and partly by the Club) on which they can run their own stock.  The Group is also able to share running facilities on the club’s N-Gauge test track.

The Club’s 009 Group has adopted a design and production specification  for layouts intended to run on its collection of Tim Horn’s 1420x450mm boards. Our thanks to Julian Evison for his detailed research into 5 Standards that are in common/popular use for 9mm gauge track, particularly looking at 009/HOe.

The Group is able to meet at the club’s premises from about 2pm until late evening each Wednesday.
