009 Group

The Club launched a new 009 Group in September 2017.  The Group now has 8 members from the surrounding area to share enjoyment of this branch of the hobby with like-minded individuals in a club setting.

Some 009 group members have their own 009 layouts for home or exhibition use, so have a lot experience in the scale. Two of these layouts have spun out of the previous group activity which was to build a modular layout. This has been retired and we are now  building a small, easily portable layout for exhibition use. We are experimenting with lightweight foam baseboards and simple wire-in-tube point control. One of our members is designing and 3D printing some of the buildings, based on the architecture of the local area.

The Group is also able to share running facilities on the club’s N-Gauge test track.

The Group meets at the club’s premises from about 2pm until the evening each Wednesday. If you are interested in coming along to see what we do in OO9, please let us know at: oo9@farnhammrc.org.uk.  We extend a warm welcome to all visitors, whether beginners or experts in the OO9 sector.

For reference, the Club’s 009 Group’s design and production specification  for our now-retired modular exhibtion layout is available for anyone who wishes to follow that route.
